Edit Fun: Cut-Outs
Knowing how to cut-out images well is a very marketable skill. No one likes to see a photo in a magazine layout that has scratchy edges or parts of the photo that were not edited well. The assignment below is to work on making cut-outs of flowers, people, or animals look sharp and clean. The shot below is a guy putting his make-up on before the start of a recent University- produced show. (click photos to increase size)

Photo Ingredients1. Actor Unedited: February 25, 2009; Snow Building Make-Up Room; f 8.0; 1/80; Sony H50 Digital Camera
2. Actor Edited: Used the quick selection tool in Photoshop to cut out and then I refined the edges with a feather on white. Then I added a slight drop shadow to give the image a little pop.
